Based in Oakland, California, roasts its coffee over an oakwood fire. Youd think the result would be a smoky cupits not. According to the company, heat from a wood fire has a higher moisture content. That translates to beans that roast slower and a final product with low acidity but plenty of deep baritone notes. Mr. Espresso tags this blend as having a caramel finish, and I tasted dark chocolate, too. Its a perfect cup for someone who wants the richness of espresso out on the trail.

Mr. Espresso is now offering Steeped Coffee!
- using a pre-heated cup or mug
- use water that is between 200-205 degrees (just under boiling)
- pouring the first 4 oz over the bag to “pre-wet” and “dunk” the bag several times, followed by the 2nd 4 oz of hot water
- covering the cup or mug with a lid or saucer to maintain the heat
- allowing to steep for a minimum of 5 minutes
After 5 minutes you can either remove the pouch to enjoy your coffee, or “let it ride” by leaving the pouch in the brew, which will create a richer, fuller bodied cup of coffee by the minute.
