One of the most rewarding things we do is find incredible coffees from different parts of the world and bring them to market as single origin coffees. What we look for in a great single origin is a truly exceptional coffee that highlights the intrinsic qualities of that region while being able to stand on its own as a unique and enjoyable cup of coffee.
Espresso is a method of coffee preparation that uses hot water and pressure to extract the essence from a portion of coffee in 20-30 seconds. Our espresso blends are created in the Italian tradition with an emphasis on smoothness, sweetness and balance that can bring a sense of comfort and
rejuvenation to a challenging day.
A great blend is like a great team or group where the whole is greater than the sum of its parts. The prototypical example is the Beatles - the number of hits they created as a band far exceeds the sum of the hits they created as individual artists. That is the idea behind each blend, to reach that unattainable quality, that little something extra that otherwise cannot be found in a coffee.
The Fair Trade model was created to empower small farmers who do not have the resources nor access to bring their coffee to market and are usually left to sell their coffee to a series of middlemen. It specifically addresses these issues by encouraging farmers to form democratically elected co-operatives, thus becoming stakeholders in the process and guaranteeing the co-operative a minimum price. Fair Trade is a natural fit with Organic because, given the choice, most farmers would prefer to farm organically.
