Can’t get enough PSL? Try this home prep recipe that actually puts the pumpkin in pumpkin spice! It was developed for Coffee Bar back in 2016 by Luigi’s wife, Mary Di Ruocco @merrs.kitchen. It has been a fall favorite ever since!

MR. ESPRESSO
NEAPOLITAN BLEND

Yield Single Serving, 12-ounce


INGREDIENTS


  • double shot Neapolitan Blend (brew in espresso machine or moka pot)
  • steamed milk (for one latte)

FOR PUMPKIN SPICE SYRUP

  • 1½ cups water
  • 1½ cups sugar
  • 2½ tsp freshly grated nutmeg
  • 3 sticks cinnamon
  • 1 thumb freshly grated ginger peeled and pounded to release aromatics
  • 1 Tbsp pumpkin pie spice
  • 15 cloves
  • ¼ cup sweetened condensed milk
  • ½ cup + 4 Tbsp pumpkin pie filling

EQUIPMENT


  • machine or moka pot for brewing espresso
  • 32 oz squeeze bottle (for Pumpkin Spice Syrup)

DIRECTIONS FOR PUMPKIN SPICE SYRUP

1 – In a saucepan, bring all the spices and sugar to a boil.

2 – Turn off heat. Allow to cool, then strain through a cheesecloth.

3 – Add condensed milk and pureed pumpkin. Stir.

DIRECTIONS FOR PUMPKIN SPICE LATTE

1 – Add 1¾ oz pumpkin spice syrup to cup.

2 – Pour two shots of espresso on top and stir.

3 – Add steamed milk and garnish with cinnamon.
