Oakland roaster Mr. Espresso rolled out Steeped coffee bags in November. Vice President Luigi Di Ruocco said he was drawn to the entirely compostable packaging and lower price point than some of the specialty instant coffee brands. They can cost as much as $3 or $4 per cup, while the Steeped pouches run closer to $2 each.
