In Italy, espresso is the coffee ritual and it is woven into the fabric of daily life. It is consumed everywhere and every day. As a result, the flavors are expected to be—smooth, full of flavor and well balanced.

Mr. Espresso’s oak wood roasting method yields a distinct advantage in achieving the classic espresso profile. Inspired by their heritage, the Di Ruocco family has skillfully mastered this time-honored roasting technique to create a collection of three Italian espressos. These contemporary yet classically-inspired blends honor the distinct regional preferences of Campania, Toscana and Friuli-Venezia Giulia.

OAK WOOD ROASTING

Glowing Oak Wood Fire

The advantage of wood roasting over conventional gas lies in the quality of heat delivered to the beans; wood heat has a higher moisture content that makes it better suited for slow roasting. The slow roast reduces acidity while enhancing both body and sweetness. The result is a coffee with more crema, fuller flavor and a smoother finish, characteristics that are essential to the classic Italian style of espresso.

 MR. ESPRESSO

Carlo Salerno Italy 1951

Carlo Di Ruocco’s passion for espresso began in his hometown of Salerno, Italy. When he was a young man he apprenticed there under a coffee-roasting master, learning the art of bean selection and blending, and the old world art of roasting by oak wood fire.

IN OUR HEARTS FUND

In Our Hearts Fund

Our gratitude to our customers goes deep. How could we best bring this gratitude full circle? Since Mr. Espresso coffee was “fueling” our home-brewing customers, we decided to use those sales to “fuel” a fund to help us do our part. The In Our Hearts Fund was established to benefit those very causes that are closest to our hearts, particularly from this new virus. A portion of retail coffee purchases from home-brewing customers goes directly to the fund.
