Kirinyaga, Kenya
Our Kenya Rung’Eto Kii comes from Kii factory, a storied processing facility that has been in operation since 1965 and is currently managed by the Rung’eto Farmers Cooperative Society. Around 80 farmers have worked together to produce this fantastic lot which was grown at an altitude of 1,600-1,800 meters above sea level in rich, loamy clay soil. The coffee is pulped, fermented overnight, and washed in the shadow of Mt. Kenya from the fresh waters running down along the Kii River.
Rung’eto Farmers Cooperative Society works to support its members by pooling resources and diversifying income. Besides coffee, the coop operates a dairy cooling plant that supplies one of Kenya’s largest dairy companies. The coop also works to care for the land it utilizes through environmental initiatives. These initiatives encourage the composting of discarded coffee berries into fertilizer and recycling of water used during processing.
Kenya Rung’Eto Kii is the perfect cool weather coffee arriving just in time for Fall. It has notes of white peach, ripe pomelo, and fresh cream, with a full mouthfeel.
