an Oliveto / Mr. Espresso collaboration

We developed this version of the traditional warm and nutty gianduja, some years back with our dear friends from the legendary Oliveto Restaurant & Cafe, College Avenue in Oakland. The now-shuttered Oliveto was pivotal in establishing the place of Italian dining in the Bay Area’s farm-to-table food movement. Owners Maggie and Bob Klein had a vision and for 35-plus years all were invited to share in it. What a privilege to have had our coffee on the menu of this seminal establishment, an inspiration for so many of the Cal-Ital food venues that followed. Salute! Bob & Maggie, alla nostra salute! RECOMMENDED COFFEE MR. ESPRESSO NEAPOLITAN BLEND

INGREDIENTS


  • 1⁄2 oz. Frangelico
  • 1⁄2 oz. Luxardo Maraschino
  • 1 oz. espresso shot, Neapolitan Blend
  • dollop milk foam
  • premium quality chocolate, finely shaved for garnish

EQUIPMENT


  • espresso machine or moka pot

DIRECTIONS


1 – In tall espresso cup, build the Frangelico &
Luxardo Maraschino.
2 – Brew 1 oz. Mr. Espresso espresso into the cup.
3 – Top with a dollop of finely textured milk foam.
4 – Garnish with finely shaved chocolate.
