Top Chef Alum Nelson German draws inspiration from his Oakland community, Afro-Latin roots, and Dominican mother for this delicious cafecito coffee cocktail. The Cafecitio De Familia is a nod to Dominican afternoon coffee to wind down and relax. This spirit-forward coffee will put you in the undeniable island vibe.

RECOMMENDED COFFEE MR. ESPRESSO NEAPOLITAN BLEND


INGREDIENTS


  • 1¼ oz Cruzan Black Strap Rum
  • ¼ oz Licor 43
  • ¼ oz Kalani Coconut Liqueur
  • double shot espresso, brewed with Neapolitan Blend
  • 2 dashes coffee bitters
  • 1 oz heavy whipping cream
  • nutmeg pod, for garnish
  • applewood smoke (optional)

INSTRUCTIONS


1 – Add first five ingredients (spirits, espresso & bitters) to cocktail mixing glass with ice then stir for about 20 seconds.

2 – Pour and strain into rocks glass with ice.

3 – Slowly pour in cream then grate nutmeg on top.

4 – (optional) Fill the glass with applewood smoke. Cover with lid.

5 – Drink immediately.
