My Daily Latte

As my eldest daughter graduated from high school last week I find myself going down memory lane and thinking of how wonderful this journey has been. I think back to when I found out I was expecting and I was here working at Mr. Espresso. The receptionist heard me take the phone call and was the first to find out.

I tried to keep my pregnancy to myself the first three months but my coffee drinking habits gave it away. I had been drinking several straight shots of espresso a day and all of a sudden everyone wondered why Laura started making decaffeinated lattes in the morning and stopped drinking regular espressos. It did not take long for everyone to figure out the reason.

Lattes were something I had not been very fond of, until the doctors told me to increase my milk intake. Now I am hooked: I drink one or two lattes every morning. It is a great way to start off the day. It’s amazing how a warm beverage can bring comfort and nourishment to a person; my daily lattes are my personal reminder that I am blessed to be a mother of three.

It is a great thing when you look forward to Monday mornings so you can go to work and have a great cup of coffee!

Boy, that receptionist sure had great ears…and a big mouth!! LOL I believe there was also something about metallic-tasting rice pudding. Miss you guys…and the lattes!

I start everyday of my life with a Cafe au lait. One cup of whole milk, one cup of Mr. Espresso brewed in a French Press. I pour them in my cup at the same time and love to watch the froth form on top. Yes, you are right. There is no better way to start one’s day!

We miss you too Tanya (our former receptionist). Once in a while, I still run across paperwork with your name on it. We look forward to your visit in September – come by and have a Latte!
